| Last year I bought a rode bike and've been meaning to start biking into work and now that our company has moved into our new headquarters, I've done just that (showers and lockers for cyclists and runners, so we don't stink up our offices, haha). Anywho, I started yesterday and my ride in was just fine and dandy - a little scary downtown with all the crazy drivers/buses/taxi's but it went well. I ran into a bit of trouble on my way home. As some of you may know, SF has trolley/cable cars throughout the city that run on these metal railings on the ground. i.e.:
Going on, part of my ride follows these railings - and as I was biking along and started gaining speed with my bike going parallel to those stupid things, I started to shift over one and my front tire started to glide along the metal and SMACK! my bike gets wiped out under me and I basically face plant into the ground :( I screamed so loud and felt like an idiot but it freaking HURT! I banged my head so hard, but my helmet protected me - so I guess they really do work, hah. I got a scrape on my knee and shoulder but that's about it. THANKFULLY this didn't happen downtown or on the street as I probably would've gotten run over by a car - knock on wood. I debated riding back in today and decided that I'm not a pussy and did it haha Although, when I passed that dreadful spot, I went super slow and made sure to stay away from those darn metal things!!! Lesson learned! TGIF! |
